Our Dental Technology
Advanced Equipment, Remarkable Results
When you visit Dr. Poupore at our office in Malone, NY, you’ll quickly realize that we don’t settle for second best and that includes our technology. Each piece of equipment supports a particular aspect of your dental care.
Our advanced technology allows us to provide faster, more effective care with reduced recovery time for our patients.
Cone Beam 3D Scanner
A Cone Beam 3D Panoramic Scanner is a powerful imaging machine that Dr. Poupore uses to get a clear view of your smile and potential issues that normal X-rays can’t provide. This cutting-edge technology generates panoramic, 3D digital images of your teeth, jaws, gums, and other dental structures.
It’s quick and easy for patients to use our advanced digital Scanner — you just place your head on a chinrest while the camera rotates around your head, creating a panoramic image of your smile the same way your smartphone captures a skyline.
The Cone Beam Scanner provides a better view of cracked and broken teeth than we could get using a regular x-ray. We can even use our scanner to measure bone density, height, and thickness, which is essential information for people considering dental implants.
Another advantage with our Cone Beam Scanner is that it eliminates the need for those annoying bite-wing x-rays (you know, the small ones that pinch the floor of your mouth when you bite down — the ones that make you gag and choke).
Because it’s digital, the Cone Beam Scanner also produces the lowest possible amount of radiation. In fact, you would get more radiation from reading a book, going outside in the sun, or flying in an airplane than you get from using our Cone Beam Scanner.
Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays are quickly becoming the x-ray of choice in the dental industry. Dr. Poupore has been using this advanced technology in our office since 2005. Digital x-rays provide us with images containing a high level of detail, far eclipsing traditional x-rays.
Dr. Poupore will take an image of a single tooth or a specific section of the mouth and then run it through a special imaging program. Using this program, we can employ various high tech tools to provide the most comprehensive view available.
In addition to being highly accurate, digital x-rays are also much safer for our patients. They create almost 80 percent less radiation than the older form of x-rays do because they were developed with the patient’s wellness in mind.
iTero Intraoral Digital Scanner
Since 2007, iTero has led a revolution in 3D digital dentistry by replacing traditional dental impressions with vivid digital images. That way, you’ll never have to sit in a dental chair while you wait for the “goopy-gaggy” impression material to harden.
Our state-of-the-art digital imaging provides highly precise information that we send to our dental lab so they can create restorations that fit beautifully. This is all done by waving our tiny intraoral camera over your teeth. It automatically scans detailed pictures of your teeth and other oral structures such and bones, gums, and nerves.
These spectacular 3D images are forwarded to the lab via the internet instead of being sent through the mail or being Fed Ex’d, saving you valuable time. Your advanced digital impression eliminates many sources of distortion you get with the traditional method of creating a physical dental impression, allowing us to create restorations that perfectly fit your smile.
Dr. Poupore has been using this innovative technology in our office for over ten years and we recently purchased an updated version that’s even more accurate. Our patients love how easy it is to use, the lab loves how fast it is, and Dr. Poupore is delighted to provide the best possible care for our patients.
Snap Instant Digital Imaging
Have you ever wondered what you would look like if you had the perfect movie star smile? Well, at Dr. Poupore’s office, we use our digital technology to show you what your new smile will look in advance of your treatment.
This process would be similar to seeing a new hair-do or hair color on your face before you decide to change your hairstyle. We just snap a photo of your biggest smile and then transfer it to our snap dental imaging.
Then you can digitally simulate how you’ll look after we complete one or more cosmetic treatments such as veneers or professional whitening. The whole process takes just minutes.
Photos can be viewed on a computer or printed out to compare as “before and after” pictures so you can get a better understanding of your treatment options.
